Nothings Wrong, Just Testing You...

Dane's onesie says it all... If I only I could read what his little mind is thinking I'm sure it would say "Nothings Wrong, I'm just Testing You". He seems to have a new game that he likes to play with me from time to time. He will be sleeping or just lounging in his chair and let out a piercing scream. I will be in another room, hear the scream, and immediately run to where he is at just to find him sitting there so content like nothing happened. I guess he wants to make sure that I'm not too far away. I think I have passed the test so far!

Baby Fever

Two of our favorite people came by Sunday afternoon to see the little man. Anna & Adeyiza, our friends from our past newly-wed small group, stopped in with yummie goodies for Kevin and I and cute gifts for Dane. The brownies were awesome Anna!! It was so great to catch up with them. If Anna didnt have baby fever before...she did once they left! :) And we did what we could to influence them to go ahead and take the baby plunge!! Maybe Dane will have a playmate sometime soon!

Later that afternoon Dane had another visitor, his Gran. Gran drove in from Orange to see the new little man of the house. Gran was excited to see his new little buddy, and it was nice to have him in town for a few hours to catch up.

Where Does The Time Go?

Today Dane is 3 weeks old. It is hard to believe that it has already been that long since I had him. Time really does fly when you are having fun! I'm trying to enjoy this time that I have off from work because I know once I go back it will really go by fast. Things are going well...I think everyone is getting adjusted, especially Dane. He knows he rules the house!

He thinks our bed is his bed!

Well the time had come...Dane's remaining part of his umbilical cord had finally fallen off. I was so excited because this meant no more sponge baths...He gets to take a real bath now!! I have to admit I was really excited...a little nervous but thrilled we get to use the new bathtub. Well, the experience was not great! In fact, it was a bit traumatic for both me and Dane. Dane hated it! He was crying so hard that we had to blow in his face a couple times to get him to breathe. But the end result...a good smelling, clean baby!!!!

Notice he isn't in the water anymore, but he is still so mad!

An Arranged Marriage

We went over to Gabe and Christy's house Sat night so the 2 new babies could finally meet. Dane is 1 week older than Sophia. Since Christy and Gabe are such good friends of ours it only makes sense to go ahead and start planning our children's wedding. We aren't sure how Dane and Sophia will feel about it, but we all think its a wonderful idea!! :)
The proud in laws!! :)
Dane is saying "wait just a minute!" Sophia looks like she is happy with the decision!

A visit from Orange

Dane had another weekend with grandparents spoiling him. Granny and Poppy drove from Orange Sat to spend some quality time with their new grandson. Poppy held Dane the whole time and would not share him with Granny. Dane showed him how much of a cuddle bug he was. It was so cute to watch how he would snuggle real close and get his head right under Poppy's chin. We tried waking Dane up to take some pictures but he was just too comfortable, he would wake up for a minute but immedialtely go back to sleep.

This is Dane's 1st V-Day and he already knows how to treat a woman! When he woke up this morning Kevin went and got him and put him in our bed with us. I went to go to the bathroom and when I came back Dane had a chocolate rose and a card sitting on top of him. I thought it was extra sweet! Kevin said Dane picked out the card and candy all by himself! :) I bought Dane a special shirt for Valentines...It swallows him but I think he still looks adorable as always.

Mr. Wiggles

Dane is quite the wiggler. Everytime he goes down for a nap we make sure he has on socks and is bundled nicely in a blanket. Somehow in his sleep he always manages to squirm his way out of the blanket and kick his socks off. Its been a war between us. We will go to check on him swaddle him tightly and put his socks back on and its not 10 min later he has managed to break free. Being the great photographer that I am I was able to catch him in the action...these pictures were taken within minutes of each other. He moved into so many different positions within a couple of minutes.

Dane and his momma are so tired... These 1st couple weeks are all about survival.
Please excuse how rough I look

A visit from the Grandparents

Grandma & Grandpa Wittschen came over Sun to see the little man. Of course, Dane was on his best behavior. We had lunch and had a great visit. It was so nice to see them again, since it had been a while since we last saw them. Dane enjoyed all the attention that he got from his grandparents.

Hands on Daddy

I have to brag a little bit about my wonderful husband. Kevin has become The Father of the Year already in this short amount of time that he has been a dad. From the minute that Dane was born he has gotten in there and gotten his hands dirty. He has made things so much easier for me because he truly helps me alot. He has the additude that we are a Team and will share all the baby duties! I'm really blessed to have him in my life!

Before the diaper change...Upset Boy!

After the diaper change! Happy boy!

Kevin and I took Dane for his first stroller ride around the neighborhood so I could get some exercise. Dane fell asleep almost immediately into the stroll. It felt so good to be out and about.

Doctor Day

We had to go to the doctor yesterday for Dane's 1st week check up. Kevin and I had all the typical questions for being first time parents...rather he was getting enough to eat, if his hiccups were normal etc. Dane checked out 100% healthy and normal. He had lost a little more weight but it was in range and the Dr thought by the end of the 2nd week he would be back to his birth weight. And to all of your surprise...I did take some pictures of the visit! Dane did not like being naked and decided to show the doctor exactly how loud he could scream!!

We made it through the first week!

Today is actually 1 week exactly from when Dane was born. Its been an amazing week and not as hard as I thought it would be. We got home from the hospital on Sat and with the help of my mom we managed to survive the first couple of nights. Its been a fun journey so far. Dane is pretty content during the day and really is only fussy between 11:00pm - 1:30ish am. I have to say that we have been pretty lucky so far. I dont want to speak too soon, but Kevin and I are getting the hang of this whole parent thing. Here are some photos from his first week. I've already gone a little camera crazy!!!

Dane's 1st car ride...straight from the hospital
