Freedom Fest

Our church had a big July 4th festival with games, inflatables, food, music and also fireworks at the end of the show.  Jackie came with us, and we all had a great time.  We walked around and looked at all the vendors, and ate some yummy food.  Dane fell asleep, and surprisingly slept through the entire firework show.  It was pretty loud, not sure how he did it.  It was a great night, not too hot.  I'm so happy our church does festivals like this!

5 months old!

Another month has passed! Dane has changed so much in the last 5 months. Just in the last month Dane has learned how to do several things. He can now sit on his bottom for quite a while before tumbling over. Just a couple days ago Dane learned how to roll from his back to his stomach. Now he is able to roll both ways, which means no more leaving him on the bed or couch unattended. Also while laying on his tummy he is able to somehow manage to make a complete circle without actually going anywhere. We put him facing one direction, leave the room and come back to find him the opposite way. Dane has also started teething which isn't going to be as much fun as the other milestones, but we will manage. There isn't any teeth showing yet, but he has been running fever, drooling profusely, chewing on everything and his appetite has decreased. Dane is still a happy baby, who loves to squeal in delight. We haven't found anything that he doesn't like to eat. On his menu now is cereal, sweet potatoes, peas, and apple sauce. Dane is getting a lot of personality now and has become so much fun. We look forward to what each month brings us.

Dane's 10 little piggies

You Get What You Pay For

Does everyone know about the $1 bins at Target? I find myself going through those every time I enter Target. Probably 90% of the time I don't find anything worth while, but occasionally I have found little odds and ins that I can use. Well, several months ago I was in Target and ran across these baby July 4Th t-shirts in the $1 bin. I immediately dug around and found a 3-6 month shirt, the size he would be in July, and was so proud of the bargain that I had just found. I thought it was a perfect shirt for July 4Th. The shirt said RED WHITE and Cute! I remember bragging to Kevin and saying "look what I found! I bought a shirt for Dane for a $1." So I have had this shirt for a couple months now, just waiting patiently for the big day. Anyway, I took the shirt out a few days ago and I noticed that it looked tiny. I put it up next to Dane and realized real quick that this shirt looked like something he could have worn when he was a lot younger. Ahh Man! So needless to say I was a little disappointed. :( The moral of the story is that something cheap isn't always a bargain!

The shirt wouldn't cover his baby gut! Very Classy!!

We're Back!!!

What happens with Granny stays with Granny!

Granny was breaking the rules! She shared her icecream with Dane and he loved it! Are you surprised? I'm not!! He has liked everything that has gone in his mouth including baby tylenol. I found that out after his 4 month shots.
I think he is thinking "haha look at me, I'm eating icecream!"

MMM good!

Sitting Up!

It is truly amazing to watch babies change over night. Dane figured out how to balance himself today. If you put him on his bottom he is now able to hold himself for about 30 secs before tumbling over. It is so cute to watch. He will lean down to play with his toes, or eat his toes rather, then sit back up. He was so proud of himself. If there is anything in reach, you can guarantee that he will reach out and grab it. Time to start baby proofing the house!!!

Dane's Random Photo Shoot

So it isn't a secret that I love to take pictures! I think with this blog everyone is finding out how obsessed I actually am. I have gotten a lot of comments like "you must take so many pictures because it is your first child". I do take a lot of pictures for that reason, but photography has always been a hobby of mine. One day I would love to take some photography courses and become a professional photographer. I know it sounds crazy, but it has always been in the back of my head. Who knows...but until then I will just do pictures in my spare time. Anyway, that is just some tidbits about me. So today after church I decided to play around with some props around the house and try to take some cute pics of my precious boy. There is no rhyme or reason for these photos...just bored and figured it has been a while since my last blog!

Laughing Baby

I have no idea what Kevin was doing above my head that made Dane crack up like this, but whatever it was had Dane just a rolling! I kept making Kevin do it again and again just so I could see Dane laugh. He has such a contagious laugh. Dane has always been a smiley baby, but just in the last few days he has started laughing a lot. Just when I think he couldn't get any cuter...he surprises me yet again!

Baby Mohawk

Look who is finally growing hair!!! Dane has just enough now to make a baby mohawk. Because his hair is so light it was hard to get it to show up in the pictures, so this is the best one that I got. Enjoy!

Beach Bums

We went to Galveston this weekend to do something different for fathers day and to just get away. We walked around the strand, had lunch at a seafood restaurant and went to the beach. It was good to turn the cell phones off and just have quality time together. The beach was packed, and of course it was very hot. The temperature gauge in the truck read 98 degrees!! Dane didn't know what to think of the sand and waves, but he seemed to have a good time. It was a nice weekend...and no one got burned!!!!

Happy Father's Day!!

Anyone can be a father, but it takes a REAL man to be a dad.

For not knowing much about babies previously, Kevin has become an awesome dad to Dane. He always puts Dane and I first, no matter what the situation is. When Kevin walks into a room Dane's face lights up and he gets the biggest smile on his face.

It is a hard job to raise Thank You Kevin, David, Barry & Pappy for being great fathers!!!!!
