Truck Driver

Here are some videos of Dane playing with his new truck that I promised to put up earlier. He is so funny to watch. He hasn't quite figured out how to make the truck turn, so when he runs into a wall he pretty much is just stuck. :) He will continue to push and push even though the truck isn't going anywhere. Dane has got so much personality now, and cracks us up everyday. I cannot believe how much he has learned in such a short time, and how independent he has become. He is just growing up so fast!

Happy Birthday Grandpa

Today we took Barry to Shogun, a Japanese Restaurant, to celebrate his birthday. This restaurant is a fun place to eat at because the chefs cook on a grill right in front of you. The chef made it quite an entertaining lunch with the help of big fires on his grill. The food was delicious, and Dane got his fair share of Japanese food as well. He munched on rice and chicken, and even tried zucchini for the first time, and loved it. We told the chef that it was Barry's birthday, just hoping to get a yummy dessert, but instead they brought out this crazy pink and black chef hat for him to wear, sang Happy Birthday and gave him a plate of pineapples. It was a hilarious sight to see him in the hat!!!

1st Christmas

Sorry to keep everyone hanging...It got late last night, and my eyes began to get heavy, so I had to put the blogging on hold until today.

Dane's 1st Christmas went great, and he definitely was not lacking for new toys, books and clothes! Everyone came over Christmas morning to watch the little man experience his 1st Christmas. We all enjoyed a nice breakfast before opening the presents. Dane enjoyed the breakfast also!! He is such a little piggy right now. If he even thinks that you may be eating then you can guarantee that he is at your feet begging for whatever you will give him. Santa left him a lot of fun toys, most of all of them make lots of noise which he loves! It was pretty funny to watch what toys he became attached to. He got one of those wooden pieces that pegs sit in and you can hammer them to the other side. The pegs I think are his favorite of all his new toys. He was able to get them out, and he has carried them everywhere. Dane liked his tunnel that Santa had left as well. It is quite large, but luckily Dane's playroom is pretty big. It takes up one whole wall in the room. Christmas was a huge success this year! It was so wonderful to have everyone here at our house this year together. We had so much fun visiting with everyone, eating and watching Dane's 1st Christmas!!!

Christmas afternoon was actually pretty peaceful and relaxing. Everyone had gone home, so I decided to bake a birthday cake for Jesus. I wanted an excuse to bake a cake, and what better reason than to celebrate Jesus's birthday!! After cleaning up the kitchen we vegged out, put in Dane's new movie "Veggie Tales" and waited till it got dark. Then we into Houston to search for some houses decorated with Christmas lights. We actually didn't find too many streets that had gone all out this year, but it was a great way to end the day. I look forward to Christmas next year!

Christmas Eve

Since it was Dane's 1st Christmas we thought it would be nice for both of our parents to join us here in Houston for Christmas Eve and Christmas Morning. Our church had a nice Christmas Eve candle light service that we all went to to celebrate the Real reason for the Season. It was so nice to have both families together this year for Christmas, and Dane looked adorable in his dressy Christmas outfit. Our Church brought in snow for the kids to play in after the service. We didn't get to play in the snow though, because kids were throwing huge snow balls, and I personally didn't want to get nailed with one. This is as close as we got to having a White Christmas, considering it was 75 degrees on Christmas Morning!

After the service Mom and I got a little head start on some of the Christmas cooking, while Kevin put together the toys that Santa had left for Dane. We were a bit surprised with how BIG the tunnel was that Santa left. I had no idea that it was going to be this large! It just kept getting bigger and bigger with every part that was opened. Santa really came through with this one!! :)

Christmas Eve Eve

The night before Christmas Eve we managed to get Dane down to bed at a decent time, and decided that since it was just the two of us we would go ahead and exchange gifts. I think our inner child came out and we got too excited to wait till Christmas to open gifts!

I am proud to announce that I will no longer be that girl who gets lost on 610, who needs detailed directions before going anywhere besides work, who has to call their husband because they some how ended up in a bad part of town, who their friends refuse to let drive, who is known for having no sense of direction, who always has to rely on landmarks! Me and my new GPS system will rule the highways!! Thank you my Love!!!

Christmas Part 1

WOW! I cannot believe that Christmas has come and gone. We start preparing months in advance with shopping, decorating, wrapping, baking etc. and then once the actual day gets here it is gone in a flash. We had a great time this year celebrating Christmas. It was so much fun, especially since it was Dane's 1st Christmas.

So, it is the day after Christmas and I am finally starting to feel like I can slow down a bit, and actually breathe. It has been a busy busy busy month, and this past week has just flown by. Last Saturday we ventured off to Orange to visit with my family who I would not see on Christmas, and had a great time. My mom decided to cook dinner one night while we were there, and we went ahead and exchanged gifts instead of waiting when they came to Houston. Dane got to open up his first set of presents while there, well I guess I should say Mommy got to open up Dane's first set of presents. Dane didn't quite get it this year, to be expected, but it was still such a fun time. We enjoyed getting to hang out with my family during the weekend before Christmas. Dane got a dump truck from Granny that he can stand behind and push or ride on. He loved walking behind it, I think it is going to build his confidence and maybe help him learn to walk.

I have so many pictures to show off so I made a slide show! I also took some video of Dane with his truck that I will upload tomorrow.

When is it going to be Friday?

So I know I haven't done any blogging this week, but it has just been a little hectic and stressful. The days have been filled with running all over Houston getting last minute gifts and errands done before Christmas, and the nights have been pretty tortuous. I'm assuming these crying fits that last for hours the past few nights have been caused by more teeth trying to come in. We can see part of one on the top gum, and I think maybe there may be one other one barely breaking the skin. It has been a bit rough. Kevin and I are walking around here like zombies, and just hoping that tonight will be a good night. I don't even think I have taken a single picture before this morning since Sunday!! Shocking I know! So let me go ahead and warn you...there probably won't be too many blogs until after Christmas. I work Friday and part of Saturday, and then we are going to Orange for a few days, and then both Kevin's parents and mine will be with us here for Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. BUSY BUSY BUSY!!! So if I don't get to tell yall personally...

These pictures show how rough of a night it actually was last night. Check out how Dane's hair was this morning when he woke up! Hilarious! Mine wasn't much better! Ha HA

Stud Muffin

Business in the front Party in the Back

Dane officially has a mullet. His hair is growing faster in the back, then it is on top. It is starting to hang over his back collar on his shirts. Kevin and I think mullets are hilarious, so we have been cracking up that our boy has one!! :) I have always heard that it is bad luck to cut babies hair before their 1st birthday...has anyone else heard this? Not sure if I should wait until the top needs a cut before cutting the back or just going ahead and getting the back trimmed. What are your thoughts?

Hit the floor Running

Nothing really new to report... Dane is getting into everything, and keeping us running. He is so curious about everything that he isn't suppose to play with, and has no interest in the things that he is allowed to play with. Isn't that how it always works? He has so much energy, and never stops moving until he is fast asleep. I think he may get this personality trait from his mother. :)

Here Comes Santa Clause

I took some pictures of Dane yesterday for our Christmas card, and when I say some I mean like 30! He is not as easy to photograph as he used to be. He is as fast as lightening, so you pretty much have to put your camera on continuous shooting and just hope that you get a couple good ones to choose from. These are just a couple of the ones that didn't make the card. I'll leave the chosen one as a surprise, since I "plan" on mailing them Friday or Saturday. But, I couldn't wait to show you how cute he is in his Santa hat.

This one cracks me up! I have no idea what made the little man mad, but it captured such a cute expression!
