funny videos

Just some funny videos of my lil 18 month old man being a Ham. He cracks me up everyday. Kevin is silly with him a lot, and I think this is where he gets it from.

18 months!!!

Happy HALF Birthday to you
Happy HALF Birthday to you
Happy HALF Birthday dear DANE
Happy HALF Birthday to you!!!

Dane is officially a year and a half!! How do you explain how fast 18 months have gone? It makes me sad that we are not far from planning his 2nd birthday. But, it has been a blast seeing how much he has changed and learned from day to day.

Some of Dane's latest tidbits:
says night night, ready... go, no no while shaking his finger at you (wonder where he got that from), teeth, hat, ball
tries to repeat words such as truck, stuck, stop
follows commands such as come here, bring me whatever, go to your high chair etc
has 9 teeth (1 is barely in)
loves to stick his fingers in your mouth
throws the worst tantrums
loves to play with his football, truck, electronics, plastic golf club, slide (total boy for sure)
wants to be outside constantly
still loves to open and close doors
knows where his shoes go, and will try to put them on
loves to brush his teeth
kisses a lot
likes to spin in circles
still goes to bed around 6:30 or 7 and gets up at 7:30 usually on the dot
takes a nap from 10:30 or 11 - about 1:30 or 2
full of energy, always giggles and is generally a happy baby
he is in between being independent and still being a baby
likes wearing hats (finally!!)
still loves playing behind the steering wheel in the truck
when he is done eating he will put his fork on the plate and then raise the plate up to give it to you to let you know he is done
doesn't have a huge appetite; generally pretty picky

We have a couple weeks before his 18 month appointment. It was hard to get in this time with back to school appointments going on...I'm curious to see how big he is. He has started losing some of his baby fat. His legs have gotten skinnier and he seems to be getting taller. Life is just going at lightening speed. My little man has brought so much joy into lives, and the last 18 months have been awesome. It is hard to imagine what life would be like without him! We love you little man! Happy Half Birthday!

Water Hose/Sprinkler Fun

I'm so tired of this blistering heat! Anyone else with me on that???

Here is Dane playing with his big beach ball sprinkler that I recently bought on clearance at Target...they had all their summer pool stuff already nearly free...it is only July and christmas stuff and winter clothes are already starting to appear in stores... Seriously! Here in Texas we don't need to see winter stuff until at least January! ha

Dane also had his first experience with the water hose today...I don't think he is going to want to play with anything else now. He didn't want to get in the pool, only wanted to use the hose to fill it up.

Just another hot day... wishing that the temperature would at least drop to high 80's! No such luck though!

Brace Yourself

We had a very low key non-productive weekend. Kevin was busy most of the weekend doing master stuff, and Dane and I just hung out for the most part. Friday night after I got off work Kevin mentioned that he wanted to go eat somewhere fun. Fun? Hmm...I think someone is getting bored on their summer vacation. So we went to Dave and Busters, a place that serves food, but has lots of games...kind of a Chuck E Cheese type place for adults. Dane had fun looking at all the lights, walking around, and playing all the games that involved a steering wheel. There was a photo booth there so we thought it would be fun to take some pics in it. These are pictures of the pictures...so quality is not great. The ones of Kevin with crazy hair cracks me up.

Today I noticed Dane had another tooth coming in on the top. This now makes tooth # 9. His teeth are a little random coming in...he has 4 teeth already on top, and then there is an empty space and then the new tooth next to that. Same thing with the bottom. There is an empty space with no tooth between 2 teeth.

I realized I haven't updated much about the brace, and I guess it is because I forget about it a lot of the time. The brace hasn't been bad at all...nothing like the cast. It has just become part of our natural routine. We have gotten Dane on a little schedule with it, so we aren't taking it off and putting it on constantly. Wen he wakes up in the morning or for naps we take it off to change his diaper, and usually leave it off so we can immediately put him in his highchair for breakfast, snacks, lunch or dinner. We try to coordinate all feedings, diaper changes etc together so there is less of the on off business with the brace. Dane is able to get around in it very good now. He is walking so much better, still a little slow and is unstable, but he chooses to walk anytime he is going somewhere instead of crawling. He can sit up in the brace and climb, and do everything that he did before! Woohoo! Pretty much everything is back to normal. Something i have noticed is that I think he is getting skinnier and taller. I'm anxious for his 18 month check up to see how much he weighs and how tall he is now. His legs don't seem to be as chunky as they were...he is starting to lose his baby fat. :(

Here's a video of Dane walking...figured last time I put a video it was when he was just taking a few steps, so this shows how he is doing now.

Just some random pictures from bath time, riding his car and taking over our bed. Mr. Potato head's glasses are on Dane a lot...I'm not sure why he loves to have those on so much, but it makes me laugh every time he does it.

Just because...

Kevin sent me this picture today while I was at work from his phone...he took Dane to Chick fil-a for breakfast and let him play in the playground. Apparently, Dane only likes to climb UP the slide.

Just thought this picture was cool and wanted to share.

1st maternity shoot!

There's a baby coming!! And I'm so excited! And, no it is not me! :)

My girlfriend Anna is having a baby girl in October! She wanted me to take some pictures of her and her belly, so we got together yesterday and had some fun. Anna and I used to go to the same church when we lived downtown, and we also lived in the same apartment complex for a while too. We don't get to hang out as often as we used to, but when we do it is always so much fun. I was really nervous since I have absolutely no experience in taking maternity pictures, but Anna is the easiest person to get along with, and so laid back that it was ok to "not" know what I was doing. :) I took some pictures of her at her house inside and out, and then we headed downtown to the discovery park to get some pictures by flowers. I definitely need some more practice when it comes to posing people. Usually, when I'm taking pictures I don't pose...I'm more of a candid shooter and just try to get cute shots while doing whatever. But, maternity pics aren't really candid. So, Anna and I cracked up while trying to figure out what to do with her while posing for pictures. WHen we were at the park we had a little audience. You gotta love when the landscapers are all in your business. It was like they had nothing better to do than stare at us! Hilarious! We had a great time, and I can't wait till little mini Anna is here and I can take pictures of her!

And yes I did get permission from Anna to put these pictures on here! :)

Dane's 1st Astro Game

Kevin got free tickets to an Astro game when he had his last eye exam. I guess there is a perk to having to wear glasses/contacts after all. So, we went to the game tonight and had a great time. We weren't sure how the little man would do, but he was perfect! He got to sit in his own chair, which he thought was the greatest thing ever. Anytime the crowd would cheer, he would clap and then laugh. He was perfectly content the whole time. He had his snack cup with goldfish, and a sippie cup of juice, and was in the best mood. He loved looking around at everything, and he would dance anytime music was played. I think we may have a true baseball fan on our hands!

Silly Hilleys

Here are a couple pictures from my practice shoot with the Hilley Sisters. Danielle and Abigail were so much fun to practice on. They both have their own unique personalities. Danielle, the oldest is very reserved and quite, but so eager to please with such a sweet nature, while Abi is full of life, quite the ham, and loves to entertain. It is obvious though that they LOVE being sisters! We did have to bribe them with slushes, because after like 10 minutes they were done! :)

I'm loving that all my sweet friends are allowing me to play photographer with their kiddos. I'm learning more and more every time I shoot the camera. These pictures aren't perfect, but it gives me tools to help me get better! Thanks to all my friends!

Sunday Evening Get Together

We just had a great evening with our friends Dallas, Paul, Christy and Gabe along with all of our kiddos. Dallas came into town so I could take some pics of her girls (pics coming soon), so we grilled hamburgers and hot dogs, and the Gonzalez's came over to hang out as well. To say that the kiddos had a blast would be an understatement. The kids got along great, and played with every single toy we own. We had a great time hanging out, laughing, eating, being silly etc. Good Times.

Managed to get all 10 eyes looking at me! It only took me shooting about 35 pictures! ha

CROSS EYED...

is what I get when I ask Kevin to pose for a picture. He does it to annoy me. Sometimes he does it so slightly... just enough where I don't notice it when I take the picture, but will see it once I have it uploaded to my computer... as in the picture below. He thinks he is SOOOO funny! :)

Hockley Train Ride

On the third Saturday of each month, March through November, the members of the Houston Area Live Streamers offer free train rides to the public. It is located in the little town Hockley, which is only like 3 exits past us on HWY 290. Once again, this is another one of our great finds in my book I talked previously about. When we read about it we were expecting big passenger trains that ride on "real" train tracks. Not the case at all, but ended up being much better I think for Dane. This place is run all by retired volunteers, and is set up like a toy train set. The trains are miniature stream engines and carry about 10-12 passengers. We had to wait awhile in line, but it was worth it. I had no idea that so many people knew about this place. The ride is about 10 minutes long on little train tracks through some trees and over little bridges they had set up. This a hobby and true passion for the guys who drive the trains. I wish I would have gotten more pictures of the little trains, but unfortunately I didn't. Dane enjoyed riding on the train, just like I had thought he would. It may be something we do again once it gets a little cooler. We went at 9:00 this morning, and man it was so hot! But, it was something neat to do on a Saturday morning!

Lock up Everything

Dane is now tall enough to pull our bathroom drawer out. Joy! He isn't able to see what he is reaching for, but he doesn't care, he will stand on his tippy toes and reach reach reach until he can get something in his hands. I didn't realize how much stuff we had in the drawer until he pulled out everything and threw it on the floor. Little Man has to be watched constantly!

Check out his little leg muscles...just like his daddy!

Noah's Ark

Everyone who knows me knows that I have a hard time being cooped up in the house, and I love to always be on the go. Sometimes it is just hard to find things to do when you have a little one without having to spend a lot of money. I'm constantly trying to find fun things around Houston that Dane and I can enjoy together. I ran across this book recently at Barnes and Nobles, and thought it was really neat. It has 100+ activities to do around Houston for kids with the recommended age and prices of admission, hours of operation etc. We have found out about a lot of neat things around our area that we had no idea existed.

For example Noah's Ark swim park. This is a very small water park that is only for toddlers and small children that is owned by a local church. I loved how small it was, but with lots to do, and i loved the fact that there were no big kids there. It is very cheap, and all the money paid goes to a ministry there at their church. I had no idea about this cool secret spot, but saw it in the book and thought we had to check it out. It has a huge Noah's ark with animals that spray water, with rainbow slides and animal sprinklers. Perfect place for little ones on hot summer days! We went this morning, and Dane had a blast as usual. He loves going down the slides, and playing with the animals that shoot up the water. He did get worn out though while we were there, and once home took a 3 hour nap!

Here is Dane flirting with all the women!
