Therapy Update and New Swim Class

First of all....
Tomorrow is a big day for Dane. He has his LAST physical therapy session with Michelle. We have an appointment with his orthopedic doctor Sept 8th, so hopefully everything will still look ok, and he won't have to see Dane but once a year for check ups. Michelle was able to clear him from needing more therapy. She is confident that he isn't needing anymore sessions, and that he has gotten everything out of therapy that he possibly could. She did say that if the doctor wasn't satisfied with his progress (which she doesn't think will happen), then she could easily add him back to her schedule. But, She really feels though that we are good to go!! So, tomorrow will be a bitter sweet day. So happy he is done, but sad We wont see Michelle anymore. She is truly amazing, and has been such a tremendous blessing. More on that tomorrow...

Ok, Yesterday Dane started his weekly swim class with his new teacher Kaleb. He was a little confused when the lifeguard walked him to another spot at the pool, but it only took a couple seconds of Kaleb talking to him before he climbed right in. I did take some videos of him swimming, but I didn't upload them because his new spot in the pool is kind of far from the viewing window, so they weren't as clear as before. But, anyway he did just fine with Kaleb. Apparently Rudy is normally right next to Kaleb in the water, but during this time Rudy goes to a smaller pool on the opposite side to do a baby/mommy class, which I think actually works out better. He won't have Rudy there to distract him, and if he isn't seeing him I don't think he will miss him. Kaleb pretty much did the same thing as Rudy, but now with the goldfish level they expect the kids to do more things independently. So, he held on to Dane less, and made Dane do more by himself than when he was in the guppy level. Basically, he would drop Dane in the water and make him turn to his back completely by himself, which sometimes seemed like it took forever. Also, instead of holding Dane's hands to get out into the water, he would make Dane jump out without him, and kick until he got to where Kaleb was. It was a little hard to watch, because Dane wasn't able to keep himself above the water the majority of the time, so you start feeling a tad panicky watching from the viewing room, and wondering when Kaleb was going to intervene. But, Dane never once seemed afraid or bothered. He had a great time, and did everything he was asked to do. So, I think he will be just fine with Kaleb. Dane is doing great, and it will be great to see the progress he will make.

Before it was time for Dane to go in he spotted Rudy teaching another class, so he stood by the window for about 15 minutes watching. He kept pointing and saying that's Rudy! While we waited I kept telling him that he was going to have a new teacher today, and I would point to Kaleb. Not sure if he totally understood what was going to happen, but he did just fine!
