Christmas in the Fruit

We headed to Orange on Monday to spend the next few days with my family and celebrate Christmas.  When we arrived Dane immediately ran to the Christmas tree to look for his presents.  We had been talking it up the last few days that he was going to get presents soon, so he was very excited.  Somehow we managed to talk to him out of wanting to open them right then.  Probably helped that my mom aka Granny, lured him over to his stocking.  She had put one of his stocking stuffer already in it, a squishy dinosaur which he became very attached to while in Orange.  We basically just spent the first evening hanging out, and running last minute errands.  It's always relaxing to be in Orange.  There's no traffic, no where that you have to be, if you don't want to get dressed up you don't have to, etc etc.

The next day we went to my dad's to exchange presents with him, and have lunch.  Dane got quite a bit there, and was very excited to have some new toys.  We had lunch and then took him to the park to play for a little while.  He had a great time playing on the big fort that the park has, and swinging in this big chair swing.  Afterwards my dad wanted to take us to the pier to look at the ducks and boats.  We saw boats, but the ducks were no where to be found.  As we were walking back to the car several fire trucks pulled up.  The firefighters were getting ready to dump out their water in the Sabine River, and when they saw Dane a couple of them came over to us and asked if he would want to sit in the fire truck! Only in small towns!! So, of course we said absolutely.  They turned the lights on and let Dane climb into the front seat and pretend to drive.  Dane was in hog heaven!!
