Great Weekend

Sunday evening is here again.  It always comes so quickly. I hate that the weekends always fly by.  Whoever created the calendar should have made the weekends longer.  :) This weekend can be chalked up to a low key weekend, but one of the best ones in a long time.  Friday having the day to myself was just great.  I hate to say that because it sounds so selfish, but I really needed some me time to recharge.  The day couldn't have been more perfect.  Saturday was all about the 3 of us spending quality time together.  We went to the galleria that morning to get Kevin a couple shirts for our trip, and we let Dane play at the indoor playground there for over an hour.  Kevin's not much of a shopper, but for some reason he enjoyed it, or maybe he was just enjoying spending time with me.  ha  We came home and while Dane napped Kevin and I cuddled and watched a movie.  We haven't done this in forever, so it was just nice to actually relax together while watching a chick flick.  We spent the afternoon outside listening to mellow music, having a couple glasses of wine while Dane played.  It was just a nice evening, plain and simple.  Once Dane was in bed Kevin and I continued listening to all our favorite songs while talking and catching up with one another.  We even had a moment where we were dancing in our living room.  All I can say is Good times! Saturday was just the perfect day, for real.   I spent the evening today at a baby shower and got to hang out with some fun girls, and spend a couple hours laughing and having a good time.  I had a great weekend, wish we had more weekends just like this one.

Dane's caravan with his 100+ cars.  Still obsessed with cars, and plays with them every single day.  I think Kevin helped him with this creation.
spent lots of  time playing in one of Dane's favorite places... the back of Kevin's truck.   He likes the back of the truck as much as he likes to play in our bathtub... A LOT!
playing with his cars, racing them on the ridges of the bed of the truck

Dane is WAY to big for this swing, but anytime that we are out in our courtyard he begs us to let him swing.    He says to Kevin that he wants to go "Way High", and then he puts his hands up and tries to touch the ceiling.

Kevin's ipod that literally has more songs on it than I have pictures! That's A LOT of music!!   I live with a music buff

the next couple pics are blurry, but I really like them bc it shows how much Dane likes to swing.

No matter how hard Kevin pushes him he wants to go higher.

A day dedicated to myself

My day in pictures...cell phone pictures, so not great quality, but hey it's better than nothing.
Around the time I rolled out of bed... if I'm being honest this is when I woke up, but laid around for another 45 minutes
Played on the Internet for a bit
Got my favorite breakfast...

Did some shopping alone for once...  Got a new shirt, Dane some new shorts and Kevin got the hook up as well
And there should be a picture of a cookie... I indulged in a cookie from Nestle Toll House, but was so excited to eat it that I forgot to take a picture...so just picture a gooey chocolate chip cookie here... :)
Got a manicure that was LONG over due
Needed another drink after my shopping excursion... Sonic's Vanilla Diet Dr Pepper

Came home to watch all my recorded reality shows I'm behind on

tried to fix myself a glass of wine, but then realized that I had never opened a bottle of wine before, and was clueless what to do with cork screw opener (yeah I know! how is that even possible), and obviously didn't do it correctly because the cork started to travel south after it was pretty much torn to pieces and I panicked and stopped messing with it... so no wine to end the day
So rented a movie instead
My Knight in Shining Armour arrived home and was able to get the cork completely out without getting any cork in the wine... of course, he laughed at me while doing it.  But, he is my hero! haha
And then he took little man outside to play so I could enjoy my glass of wine and the ending to my day alone!

Ahh... this is the life!

Until tomorrow! :)

Look what YOUR son did...

That's the text I got from Kevin while I was on my way home from work followed by this picture he took with his cell phone...

Dane used the potty, and then tried to wash his hands but couldn't turn the water off.  So, what better way to soak up the water than by dunking a whole roll of toilet paper in the sink, and plugging it up!! He had good intentions, so Kevin couldn't get mad.  He walked into the bathroom just in time to stop the water before it overflowed onto the floor.  Fun-ny!!

Then not even 30 minutes later I get a 2nd text from Kevin with this picture...

Dane was playing in our closet and came across this winter headband (that I have literally never worn, and have no idea where it came from).  Kevin walked in to find him wearing it, and then Dane told him  "Ok, I'm ready to go exercise"

I don't think he has ever seen anyone wearing one of these headbands much less exercising in one, so where he got this beats me.  Maybe he has been watching Richard Simmon's workouts on tv while I'm at work.  BAAHAAHAHA!!  But, I totally needed this today.  I was rolling in my car laughing so hard.  Hilarious!!!

Heading to Work

Just a funny:

Got this through an email and thought it was cute!!

ADULT TRUTHS

1. I think part of a best friend's job should be to immediately clear your computer history if you die.

2. Nothing sucks more than that moment during an argument when you realize you're wrong.

3. I totally take back all those times I didn't want to nap when I was younger.

4. There is great need for a sarcasm font.

5. How the heck are you supposed to fold a fitted sheet?

6. Was learning cursive really necessary?

7. Map Quest really needs to start their directions on # 5. I'm pretty sure I know how to get out of my neighborhood.

8. Obituaries would be a lot more interesting if they told you how the person died.

9. I can't remember the last time I wasn't at least kind of tired.

10. Bad decisions make good stories.

11. You never know when it will strike, but there comes a moment at work when you know that you just aren't going to do anything productive for the rest of the day.

12. Can we all just agree to ignore whatever comes after Blu Ray? I don't want to have to restart my collection...again.

13. I'm always slightly terrified when I exit out of Word and it asks me if I want to save any changes to my ten-page technical report that I swear I did not make any changes to.

14. I keep some people's phone numbers in my phone just so I know not to answer when they call.

15. I think the freezer deserves a light as well.

16. I disagree with Kay Jewelers. I would bet on any given Friday or Saturday night more kisses begin with Miller Lite than Kay.

17. I wish Google Maps had an "Avoid Ghetto" routing option.

18. I have a hard time deciphering the fine line between boredom and hunger.

19. How many times is it appropriate to say "What?" before you just nod and smile because you still didn't hear or understand a word they said?

20. I love the sense of camaraderie when an entire line of cars team up to prevent a jerk from cutting in at the front. Stay strong, brothers and sisters!

21. Shirts get dirty. Underwear gets dirty. Pants? Pants never get dirty, and you can wear them forever.

22. Sometimes I'll look down at my watch three consecutive times and still not know what time it is.

23. Even under ideal conditions people have trouble locating their car keys in a pocket, finding their cell phone, and Pinning the Tail on the Donkey – but I'd bet everyone can find and push the snooze button from three feet away, in about 1.7 seconds, eyes closed, first time, every time

Swim Pics

Last week at Dane's swimming lesson (you know the one I mentioned he wasn't in a great mood for) there was a professional photographer taking pictures of all the swimmers. He was there to get some current pictures to put on the swim club's website. I was disappointed he was there on a day that Dane was in a crabby mood, so I really didn't think that Dane would make any of the pictures.  Today I received an email that included a website that had all the pictures that were taken that day. And to my surprise Dane was in several.  A couple from the kicking exercise, several with him floating on his back to the wall, and then riding the mat to the slide.  These made me happy to see today.  I have been wanting some current pictures, but they are just hard to get since we aren't in the same room as the lesson, and we are watching through a glass window.

You'll notice in the last picture of him floating on his back he doesn't look happy and even looks like he is crying.  They are suppose to float to the wall from the middle of the pool which he does perfectly and then put their hand on the wall and flip themselves over while keeping their hand on the wall.  Well, he wasn't in the cooperating mood, so he "cheated" and didn't do it correctly, so Miss Heidi put him back on his back and made him do it again.  He was not a happy camper about that.  I love that about her, she doesn't let them get away with doing an exercise wrong, even if they aren't in the mood to do it correct.  She always makes them follow through with every exercise.   The photographer caught him smiling in one also, which makes me even happier.  Because, usually on most swim days that is how he is the entire lesson, smiling and being silly and enjoying the lesson.  Anyway, here are some pictures courtesy of Houston Swim Club!

3 Yr Well Check

We went to see Dane's pediatrician today for his 3 year Wellness checkup.  I wasn't sure how this visit was going to go, since I knew he was going to have to get a vaccine.  Since he is older now he knows what is going on, and is fully aware so I had prepared myself to have to hold him down while he kicked and screamed.  I talked it up on the way to the doctor's office.  I kept telling him that we were going to see his doctor, he would have to get a shot, it would hurt for  just a little while, and then we would go get a chocolate shake afterwards.  He actually seemed excited in the car.  Which meant he had no idea what a shot was, so I was little nervous.

But, the visit went GREAT! He cooperated with everything the doctor and nurse needed him to do.  When it came time for the shot, I re-enforced everything we had talked about in the car, and he just laid on back for the nurse with no fight.  He had no idea what was in store.  :(  She did the shot really fast.  He kind of got this mad look on his face and said real loud "OWWW OWWW, THAT HURT", but never cried.   He then said kind of in a pouty way " I don't like shots" :( poor little guy.  But, I was proud of him, couldn't believe there was no fight or tears.  The nurse told him she was sorry for giving him the shot, and he said "It's ok! Now we get a chocolate shake" pretty cute.

Here are his latest stats:

At birth
7 lbs 5 oz 20 inches long

1 year
22 lbs 9 oz 29 inches long

18 months
25 lbs 1.2 oz 32 inches long

2 years and 2 months27 lbs 8.6 oz 34 inches long

3 years
30 lbs 8 oz 36 inches long

Still about in the 50% for weight, and about 35% for height.  The doctor said he was equally proportionate and he was growing how he should be.  He did say that his growth has hit a slow phase and has leveled out a little.  But, all in all he is a healthy 3 year old, and has developed just how he should.  It's what I like to hear!

Doesn't he look so grown here!! :(

This was where he wanted to put his stickers he got from Doctor's office.

The Day of Love

Happy Valentine's Day!!!

Check out my sweet little Valentine that I got to spend the day with.

I know.  You are JEAL--OUS because he is such a cutie-patootie!

Watch out Ladies...he is taken!!

This morning we went to Dane's school for his V-day party.  I didn't want him to miss it since today wasn't one of his days to attend.  He was excited, even though anytime he hears the word party he assumes it is his birthday party and will sing Happy Birthday to himself.  Pretty funny.  He was a ham with me there, showing off and just being silly.  He got to give his valentines to his friends, and eat a fun lunch with some valentine desserts.

We spent some time outside playing since the weather was gorgeous, snacked on some heart shaped brownies that we made and decorated this weekend, both of us took a long nap and once Kevin got home Dane got to open his Valentine present.

Dane loves getting presents, so words can not explain how excited he gets when he finds out he has one.  We made him "find it", so he went running around and then spotted it on our island.  He started jumping up and down and couldn't wait to open it.  He got a new place mat that is a Toy story one (this sounds weird, but he is very attached and always has to eat on his Handy Manny one), some fun CAR utensils with wheels, and a Buzz Lightyear cup that matches his plate he got as a birthday gift, and a fire truck from the movie Cars.  He loved it!

Of course he got some yummy candy too... we chose candy that we could help him eat :)

Wow, this V-day post just turned into the longest post ev-er! Sorry Ya'll!

I hope that everyone had a wonderful Valentine's Day!!
