Lunch Birthday Date

Nothing says Happy Birthday like a Happy Meal and Cupcakes.  Dane's little love tank was completely full today.  Showing up at his school with lunch and cupcakes isn't something I will be able to do forever.  A time will come when having your mom come to your school and eat lunch with you will be a disgrace and total embarrassment.  But,  having your mom visit when you are 4 is the COOLEST thing ever.  And to top it off having a Happy Meal brought to you just adds to the excitement.  Dane made sure to tell everyone that I was his mommy, and I brought cupcakes and a happy meal because it was his birthday.  It made my heart happy to see him so excited.  His love tank was overflowing when Ms Maria told him he could be the line leader to the cafe.  When you are 4, this is a BIG deal.  So, Dane was all smiles.  The kids are all so cute, but lord have mercy on Ms Maria and Ms Tarra.  They have to have some major patience to work with this many 3/4 year olds.  Just getting them all to visit the potty, wash their hands, and lined up to walk to the cafe had me feeling a bit anxious.

I thought it was funny that the kids are instructed to put their hands on their head while walking to the cafe.  And they all did it. Every single one of them walked to the cafe with their hands resting on their head.  It keeps them from putting their hands on each other, I guess.

I asked Dane to smile for the camera, and this is what I got.  A bit crazy
I was amazed at how organized the teachers are, and how the kids are in a routine.  They don't eat their food until after doing a chant and a blessing/song.  They all raised their hands to do a manners chant.  It was really cute.  The chant talks about keeping their hands only on their food or in their laps, and not touching other kids while they are eating.
And then they sing a little song/blessing.  Dane was so cute.  He knew all the words, and sang with the rest of the kids in the cafe.  Then when it was all said and done the kids started to dig in.
Ms Maria was very happy to see that I brought little mini cupcakes instead of full size ones.  Parents have to bring store bought cupcakes instead of home made ones.  Kroger had 2 options... full size cupcakes with neon icing that was like 10 inches thick or these little mini cupcakes.  I decided to go with these lil ones, since the kids would be eating them 5 minutes before nap time. 10 inches of icing is a sugar overload waiting to happen plus the neon colors all over clothes. All the parents should be thanking me! HaHa
Dane stood on a chair while everyone sang Happy Birthday to him.  He was so cute, and this really made his day.

I took Dane home early from school.
We had some more fun once we got home.  Rumor has it Spider Man paid Dane a visit...
Details on that coming soon

The Big 4

We're Going to Party like it's your Birthday!!

Wow. 4 years old.  I can't believe it.
Time has really gotten away from me.  And my little man isn't so little anymore. He has grown up in a nanosecond right before my eyes.  4?????  Surely, that isn't right.
Dane is so EXCITED that he is 4.  He keeps telling us that he is such a big kid now, and being 4 is so cool.  He has told us several times when we were trying to help with him something "I am 4 remember, I can do it by myself."  And most things he IS able to do by himself now.  He is extremely independent, wanting to do EVERYTHING by himself with no help.

Here's a few tidbits of my newly 4 year old:
* loves to be silly and goofy and is extremely playful
*laughs and giggles a lot
*Hilarious- says things that has us belly laughing every single day
*has a great imagination- you can catch him coming up with dialogues between toys constantly, and is great at pretending
*very strong willed and stubborn- I wish there was a word that was better than VERY to describe exactly how strong willed he is
*cars and super heroes are still his 2 favorite things of all times
*can be very sneaky- sneaking out of his room during nap time, claiming daddy said he can do something when in fact he did not etc
*loves being outside, riding his bikes, going to the park
*hates taking naps, but still really needs them and gets cranky if he is tired
*LOVES the water- has really gotten good at swimming
*energetic all the time- never stops moving ever
*loves playing with other kids, and never seems to be shy
*still pretty picky when it comes to eating, but has gotten WAY better the last few months. Breakfast and lunch are meals that are super easy, never puts up a fight. Dinner time is a struggle most days
*very curious and inquisitive about everything. wants to know why and how things work
*still likes to take a toy or 2 to bed
*can be bribed with presents
*if he doesn't want to do something no amount of bribing, threatening, pleading, punishing will work
*likes to do things on his own time, and it has to be his idea
*he is very adaptable to change, and goes with the flow. Def not a schedule person at all. He is more fly by the seat of his pants.
*all about winning, and racing/who gets to the kitchen first, who finishes their meal first. loves to say I beat you or I won.
*but at the same time he is actually a good loser.  Doesn't get mad, usually says "Can I win next time"
*loves watching movies, playing video games and being read a story before going to bed
*has a BIG personality
*favorite color still blue

I could go on and on.. Ha

Oh, my little man.  He has brought us so much joy over the last 4 years.

Happy Birthday Dane!!!

Lately, Dane has been attached to my old green tricycle.  He has no interest in riding his Batmobile at this point.  He has liked riding this tricycle so much lately that I actually regret not getting him a real bike for his birthday.  He won't be able to ride this little tricycle too much longer because little man isn't so little anymore, so we are thinking he may have to get a late birthday present in a few months.  Kevin is wanting to get his bike fixed and ride around the neighborhood once Dane has a real bike. But, the tricycle is working for the time being.
We took him to the park Sunday afternoon because you couldn't beat the Houston weather.  It was gorgeous, and only like 66 degrees.  You know, those days are very few and far in between here in H-Town.  The little man got some crazy looks as he peddled this vintage ride around and around the park.  I'm sure people were thinking "Geez, could his bike be any more old school"?  But, I love that he loves riding my old tricycle.  This little bike was actually my sister's before it was mine, so it's pretty old at this point.  Still in great condition and pedals pretty quickly.  There's not many things from my childhood that I think Dane would enjoy playing with considering I was a girl who played with barbies and baby dolls.  So, it makes my heart happy that he loves this trike.

And for good ol times I included a picture of me on the tricycle.  I was barely 3 in the picture.  And I guess maybe the sun was bright, and that's why I was squinching my face?? HaHa

Party Time

We had Dane's party Saturday at Chuck E Cheese.  To be honest leading up to when we were figuring out where to have it the thought of having it there made me cringe.  But, as time grew closer, and I was running out of options we decided that maybe it wouldn't be too bad.  We had Dane's party first thing in the morning at 10:00, and it turned out to be a great time to have a party.  We were the only ones in the place for the first hour and half.  And then it started filling up around lunch time.
Dane was super pumped when he woke up that morning, and was so excited to "turn 4" at his party.  He arrived to the party and immediately ran in and was so excited to be there and start playing. The kiddos played for about the first hour, going through tokens as fast as you can even say token.  Can you say over stimulation? :) But, the kids had a blast playing all the games.  And even the adults were caught playing their fair share as well.  Then we gathered together to enjoy pizza and cupcakes and Dane opened up his presents.  Chuck E, the mouse came out to entertain us while we did all the birthday stuff. Dane wasn't too fond of the mouse.  He wasn't scared, but he wasn't really appreciating Chuck E being behind him and trying to interact with him. It was pretty funny as Chuck E would try to stand behind Dane and he would give these looks like he was so annoyed with him.  It was quite hilarious when Chuck E put a birthday crown on Dane.  He kept it on, but had this look like can we just get to the blowing out of the candle part.  But, Dane did enjoy us singing to him.  He thought it was pretty funny.  He has been asking all week if his friends were going to sing Happy Birthday to him, so his wish came true! Ha Dane was very anxious to open his presents.  He was really cute while opening them he would walk to each friend and tell them Thank you.  We have been prepping him all week to say thank you to his friends.  You know you never know what your kid will do or say in public.  But he was super cute, and LOVED all his new things. He got some fun toys, clothes and new bedding/sheets and a Spider Man pillow for his new bed that is coming.  After we did all the birthday stuff the kids continued to play their hearts out. Kevin and I were handing out tokens left and right trying to get rid of them. We still have a bag full of tokens left over! All in all it was a great party, and Dane had a wonderful time.  I think  the kids really enjoyed themselves, and the parents were happy to have worn out kids at the end of the party.

There is no way to not show a million pictures, so sorry you will be scrolling and scrolling and scrolling some more. Picture overload ahead.

Happy Birthday to Dane

Present time!

Tab and I had some fun as well.  You can never be too safe when getting in a ticket blaster

I'm about to kick some bootay in this thing and win us some tickets.

I had no idea how INTENSE the air would be blowing.  It was insane, and the most hilarious thing EVER!
It was not easy whatsoever to get tickets. The air was crazy, and their were lights flickering and spinning.  It made me a bit nauseous, but it was freaking hilarious.
I think I ended up with 5 tickets!!! 5!!!!!! Unbelievable how fast the tickets were blowing.  So funny!

And we did the photo booth several times.

Dane's 4th birthday party was a HUGE success.  Little bummed that I didn't get pictures of Dane with both sets of his grandparents, and with him with his friends.  But, he was on the move the entire time.  Running from one game to the next, not wanting to sit still long.  He had such a good time!! Tuesday is his actual birthday.  He keeps asking us "am I 4 now??" So cute.  I'm planning on bringing a cookie cake to his school and bringing him lunch and then taking him home early.  We have a couple more little presents to give him that day to celebrate his day! Can't believe this year has gone so fast!
