weekends just aren't long enough

Is it Friday yet?

Y'all I'm exhausted.  Mentally and physically exhausted.  I've had a couple of rough weeks lately at work.  No surprise there.  But, it has just been draining.  My entire body aches, and all I want to do when I get home from work is just crash.

Anyone ever feel like just getting in their car and driving, but not telling anyone where you are going??  That's how I've felt the last few weeks... that I could just pack up a bag and go hide out for a few days.  Thinking really hard about that... so if come up missing know it's temporary and I'll be back.

I'm in a funk, and just needing some cheering up.  Plain and Simple.

I do have some things to look forward to though happening the next few weeks... this weekend, a girls weekend, a short week bc of July 4th, a 7 day vacation from my job, a trip to New York to visit Kevin's parents, and a week away from this 100+ degree weather

Nothing much has been going on here.  That's why I haven't blogged much, and really haven't used my camera in a while.
Dane is still learning sight words... He knows 14 I think.  I give all the credit to Kevin on this one.  He has been doing them with him, and Dane is doing really well with it.

Since Dane has been out of school I don't think his hair has been fixed once. :)

Dane has a new obsession... Popeye
He keeps telling us he wants to eat spinach so he can get muscles like him. He saw a can of spinach with Popeye on it at Krogers the other day, and ever since then he claims he wants to eat some.
He is pretty adament about eating spinach which totally makes me laugh because I know without a doubt that he will NEVER even try it.  But, Kevin said he was going to pick up a can the next time he is at the store.  Should be interesting.

Might as well do a cell phone dump as well
Remember a few months ago when I wrote this post??
Well, the other night we were eating dinner when we heard a loud barking coming from our dining room window.  Oh, it was a lab in our backyard.  Our neighbors dog who had dug another hole and got out of his yard.  They weren't home so the dog had to play in our yard for about an hour.  Kevin played with it, and started acting like he was wishing it was his dog. Ha. But, once again the neighbor is responsible for fixing the fence and damage.  crazy.

Kevin has been doing a lot of cooking lately since he has a pretty open schedule.  And I'm very grateful.

And since I've been a bit crazy and emotional lately Kevin has been really good at making sure I have chilled wine when I get off of work.

We have been eating a lot of new recipes... like these spicy moraccan chicken skewers

And I made dirt cake.  Yummy

We have also done some shopping lately.  Dane seems to be to big for everything all of a sudden.  His shoes, t-shirts, swim shirts and even his underwear seem to be way too small.

We have also played a lot of cards lately.  My favorite is speed.... and I tend to kick Kevin's butt pretty much every time.  :)

The game memory has been in full force as well.  Dane is surprisingly really good at this game.

We get pretty competitive.  We played to 10 this time, and I forgot to take a pic of the final score.  Let's just say I got to 10, and he only had 4. womp womp womp

That's all I got.  Off to bed I go.

Wet Wasted Wednesday

I am getting all caught up on my reality tv while my little man plays in his play room.  Kevin is at his softball game, but I have a feeling that he will be getting home early due to it being rained out.

It's been an interesting day.  It started out a little rough...
tantrums and time outs all before lunch.
D was in rare form...having a bit of a bad morning  (guess what...more instagram photos)

But, after lunch he turned his frown upside down.
We decided to hit up the pool.
You can't go to the pool without making a quick visit to Sonic.

We should have checked the weather before getting Dane all excited about going to the pool. Major fail on our part. It was a little overcast when we left the house, but seemed like the sun was trying to peak through.  So, we really didn't think anything of it.
We got to the pool and it then started looking like this...
Definitely not pool weather.

The lifeguards had everyone out of the pool when we arrived.
So, we sat under the cover waiting for the clear. I was really wanting to stay and see if it would pass.  For some reason I was really in the pool mood.
Kevin didn't feel the same. Ha
The rule is you have to wait twenty minutes if you hear thunder before people can get in the pool.  And in that 20 minutes if it thunders then the twenty minutes starts over.
Lightening, obviously is a deal breaker and the pool closes. While we were there it started raining so we decided to not wait, but just to get on home. Bummer. Dane wasn't too happy.

We got home and I put Kevin to work.  I'm sure he was thrilled!

My kitchen wall FINALLY has things on the wall. Very excited about that

While we were at home the sun started to come out and it looked like it may clear up...
So, I had the great idea to take Dane back to the pool.
Major Fail yet again.
We got to the pool and the clouds rolled back in.  And guess what the lifeguards claimed they had heard thunder about 3 minutes before, so they were on "thunder warning" break.
I didn't want to disappoint the booger yet again, so while the break was going on I let him play in the splash pad.  He played the duration of the break, and the lifeguards were letting people get in the pool.
So, we did.

And then guess what... we were in the pool maybe 3 minutes when...
yep. It thundered! Loud.
SIGH!

 Oh, well.
We can just chalk this day up to a weird one.

Killer Biscuits

One of my friends posted this on facebook, and I had to share it because it literally had me crying from laughing so hard.  Enjoy.

Happy Father's Day

Happy Father's Day to my sweet hubby.  I'm very fortunate to have such an amazing man be the father to Dane.  Words can't really explain how good of a dad he really is.  Dane is one lucky boy.

All Kevin wanted for father's day was crawfish.
Super easy to please.
Dane and I made him a bucket full of all his favorite things.  Candy, snacks, drinks, coffee K-cups etc, cards and a gift certificate to a golf course were all included.  Dane was so funny when he saw some of the stuff in the bucket.  He told Kevin "Happy Father's Day, and we have a surprise for you, but you have to share it with me"  He was very adamant about Kevin giving him some of the candy.
We celebrated his day by enjoying some time at the pool Friday evening, bowling Saturday and getting Kevin his crawfish fix.  I took Dane to the Memorial City playground Saturday afternoon so Kevin could have some alone time, and then took him to the pool today after church so Kevin could have the house to himself for a few hours.  Kevin will get to go play golf one day this week which I know he will enjoy.  He doesn't get to play very often.

Our church did another similar survey from mother's day all about dads.  Pretty cute.

He didn't answer a couple questions, but when we were leaving church we asked him how old Kevin was and he said "Um, I don't know maybe 6 or 7".  so funny.  And he told us Kevin's hair is brown and he knew Kevin's eyes were blue when we asked him.
I thought him saying Kevin's favorite food is apples was hilarious.  I've maybe seen Kevin eat apples 1-2 times the entire time I've known him.  He said he likes them, but it's not something he buys very often.  So random that Dane said that.
I thought the ring answer was CLASSIC! So observant of Dane.  Kevin hardly ever leaves the house without his Aggie ring.  Usually the only time he doesn't wear it is when he is working out.
I Thought him saying Kevin is smart bc he knows how to be happy was the cutest thing ever.  And I had to laugh that Kevin works hard to clean his playroom.  Kevin is def the one who makes Dane clean his playroom the most.  I do as well, but it takes so much effort that I tend to let it slide more than Kevin does. Funny that he said Kevin works hard at cleaning it.  :)
Such a cutie, and he loves his daddy so much.  Best Buddies.

I also want to wish a Happy Father's Day to David, Barry and my Pappy as well!! Love you guys very much!! Thanks for being great dads and loving me and my boys as much as you do.
