Just now getting around to writing about our little anniversary weekend.
So, last Sunday we met Granny in Baytown to drop off the little man. He was so excited to get to go spend a few nights away. He thinks he is so big when he hears that he gets to go by himself without us. And we were really looking forward to having a few days to our self.
After dropping off Dane we headed back to town for a movie and dinner date. We saw Silver Linings Playbook. Such a good movie!! It was weird, and so random, and Bradley Cooper and Robert De Niro's characters were totally whack. But, we really liked the movie. We left there and talked about it for a while afterwards. Then we enjoyed some Mexican dinner on the patio at Gringos. Very nice evening.
Monday morning we ventured off for our little mini get-away. We headed down HWY 290 to hit up some wineries. There are a ton of them between Austin and Fredericksburg. We were somewhere in the middle of these two cities with the wineries that we chose. Of course, we had a great time. I mean what's not to love about tasting wine?
3 of the 4 wineries that we went to were great. Lots of great wines. But, we did have one that was a bit different. It's not too often that you go through a tasting and not like a single wine. This particular winery used weird ingredients such as honeysuckle and lemon grass. You know your in Texas when....
Yeah, we were not fans.
After hitting up some wineries we were starving. Funny thing though, there were no restaurants anywhere. We asked a couple people at the different wineries, and they all had the same response. That there wasn't much around where we were, but StoneWall Diner. We pulled up to this...
um... yeah. When going in to pay for your gas, you can stop at one of the tables there inside for some dinner. Don't knock it... you get a free cup of coffee when you fill your car up. Needless to say, we didn't eat here. I know... so disappointing.
I wasn't feeling it. Ha
Then we headed into Austin to get cleaned up at our hotel before going downtown to see Bob Schneider perform. We saw him in Houston a couple years ago, and the show was at a pretty big venue. So, it had more of a concert feel. But, in Austin it was at a much smaller place, more intimate performance. It was great to hear live music and see him perform again. We had such a great time, and had so much fun. We even got to meet him after the show. I made Kevin take a picture with him! He is a great guy, and so easy to talk to.
Tuesday was our 7th wedding anniversary. Can not believe it's been 7 years since this day.
7 years! wow. Time has flown.
After getting back into town we had a nice dinner at Bistro Le Cep. I had a patient give me a generous gift card back around Christmas time for this restaurant, so we saved it for our anniversary. We enjoyed some yummy food a glass of wine before calling it a night. Great evening with my love.
Wednesday I had to get back to work. Dane didn't come back until Thursday. So, our house was really quite. I definitely missed Dane a ton, but I did enjoy having some time just the two of us.
Great few days!
