Kindergarten Round Up

It's starting to get real, folks.  Little man has 2 more weeks of pre-school, and then he will be out for the  summer.  Three months from now we will have a kindergartner in our house.  Can. Not. Believe. It.  How is that even possible??? Mind blowing.

Today we went to Kindergarten Round Up at his elementary school.  Dane was so excited to go sign up for kindergarten.  He was a talking machine, so ready to see the school and all that.  We pulled up to the school and when I was parking Dane quietly said "I'm a little scared".  It's so not like Dane to get scared of anything, so it took me by surprise.  I don't think I've ever even heard him use the word scared before.  So, I said "you are? You don't need to be scared, it's going to be a fun day. We get to see your new school, and make new friends and kindergarten is going to be fun".  He then said as matter of factly as he could "OK", and that was it. He was back to his normal self, jumped out of the car and was back to being his hyper chatty bubbly self.  Guess he just had a little moment of nervousness when we pulled up and saw the "big" school.  He walked into the school like he had been there for forever. Lots of confidence, and ready to become a real kindergartner.

We started off in the cafeteria, the kids colored while the principal did a welcome presentation.  Dane immediately made "friends" with two little boys he was sitting next to.  He's such a social butterfly. The kid is never shy.  The kids were taken to the library for a story time and activities while the parents listened to several staff members give information about anything and everything related to kindergarten.  It was a bit overwhelming if I'm being honest.  Lots of packets filled front and back with information we will need for the upcoming school year.  After the kids finished with the activities they were able to go through the lunch line and get cookies and milk! Dane told me that he loved his kindergarten lunch.  HAHA I had to inform him that this wasn't lunch, it was just a snack while getting him registered. So funny! We were given a tour of the school, and then the kids were able to take a short ride on a school bus.  Dane was beyond excited about riding the bus.   Highlight of the day!
We turned in all of our registration paperwork and that was that.  My child will be a kindergartner very soon.  Cue the tears.

Lined up, and ready for some fun in the library.  He is going to get his own personal library card. He thinks that is sooo cool.
Ready to go on the big yellow school bus!
you would think he was about to ride in a ferrari!  Beyond excited!

Where's Waldo?? Can you spot him?
