Sick Pumpkins

Another week has come and gone.  It's been pretty rough the last few days in the Wittschen household.
I was sick and feeling pretty crappy all last week.  I had a horrible chest cold, I sounded like an 85 year old chain smoker.  Then Saturday morning Dane woke up with a stomach bug, it was terrible.  Pretty much wiped him out all day, through Sunday afternoon.  Praying Kevin and I don't get it.  I can't handle stomach bugs.  They are the worst.
I'm not even sure what all took place last week.  It's all a blur.

Dane has his very first real fundraiser for his school.  He will be participating in a fun run this coming up Monday, so we spent the first few days calling grandparents begging for money.  If you want to help him reach his goal message me and I'll send you the link to pledge!
I'm looking forward to seeing him participate in the run.  He will be running laps to earn money for his school.  It should be a fun day!

We made a cute pinterest inspired gift for his teacher.  She deserves gifts year round.  The tag was just too cute, so I had to do it.  Inside was some fuzzy, soft, lay around your house type socks, nail polish, pedicure set like toe nail clippers and buffer etc, and some of her favorite candy!
Dane's plate that we made last weekend was ready to be picked up! I thought it turned out pretty cute.

We hit up a little church by our house that had a pumpkin patch.  We had intentions of buying a pumpkin, but they didn't take credit cards and we didn't have any cash.  Womp womp.  Not sure we actually have time to carve a pumpkin this year anyway.
We didn't think it through. We were running out of time to take pictures with pumpkins, so we went one day after school. But, I had forgotten that it had stormed here in Cypress the day before, so it was really muddy and wet.  Dane was in a silly mood, so his attention span was 0.25 seconds, and his cooperation level was at about a 1.2 out of 10.  Ha.

 See what I'm working with.

Friday night we declared it Halloween Movie Night.  Dane wanted to watch all 4 movies.  We knew it wasn't going to be possible, but let him think otherwise.

Dane and I made it through 3!

I just knew that Dane would have been the first to fall asleep...
But, Boy was I wrong!! Someone was nodding off during the first half of the first movie!

Saturday sucked.  Dane was sick sick sick.  He looked terrible and was in the bed the entire day.

Sunday morning I thought he was better, until about lunchtime.  And he turned into a whining, crying, emotional machine.  He felt a little warm so I had him take some Motrin and made him go lay down in my bed to calm down for a couple minutes.  He was ticked.  Not a happy camper that I wanted him to go lay down.  I had time to fix him a drink, and by the time I walked into my room he was OUT!!!
He slept hard for 3 hours!! I couldn't believe it.
Look how peaceful he looks!

About 2 hours into his nap I went in to check on him, and this is how he looked!!
What the heck happened in those 2 hours to his hair???????? HAHA crazy.
But, he was out and sleeping really hard.
He woke up like a new person.  In a great mood, feeling 100% better.

Busy fun week ahead with Halloween fun and Kevin's birthday!!

Weekly Update

I've been out of commission today.  Started feeling terrible last night, and it's carried on to today.  I've been pretty worthless and unproductive today and spent the entire day in my bed.  I feel bad, and really not looking forward to having to work tomorrow.  Ugh!

So, here's my little weekly update.  Once a week has been all I can do lately.  Not too much has been going on.

My little cutie had another great week of school.

He's been in school 2 months, and has already outgrown his new school shoes.  So, we hit the outlet mall earlier in the week to shop for shoes.
We found this pair, and thought they were a perfect fit.  Plenty of room to grow in :)

The $1 spot at Target had this cute Halloween Bingo game. It has several cards in it to change it up each round.   Dane loves it!! We have had fun playing this all week.  Can't beat a $1!!

Dane giving me the peace sign when he won for the 3rd time in a row.

Kevin took the little dude to Target Friday while they waited for me to get home.  He got to get a blue icee for a treat for being good at school all week.  He sent me this picture while I was in traffic inching along.  Glad they got to have some fun!

Just when you think he's getting so big you realize he is still so little.  Little enough to still fit into a laundry basket.  Makes a perfect chair while watching tv.

Saturday morning I took Dane to the paint place to make us a Halloween plate. We made a Frankenstein plate using his hand print.  Dane liked it, and we get the finished product back in a few days! I look forward to seeing how it turns out after they blast it with the fire and make it glossy.

We came home and made some Halloween treats while we watched the Aggie game.  Monster cookies and Monster Munch.  The treats turned out super cute, the game ended sadly.  Still love those Aggies!
Then we just hung out, and as the evening went along I started feeling bad.  Ended the night with me taking Nyquil around 7:30, and next thing I remember was waking up at 9 this morning.  Haven't slept that much since I was probably in high school.

Here we are again

3 straight weeks of normal good behavior in kindergarten!! Can I get a what what?!?!?!

Dane gets to go to the library every Wednesday and check out a book.  This week he came home with a history book.  A HISTORY BOOK! Dear Lord say it isn't so that I may be living with 2 history buffs.  Even though he doesn't look too thrilled in the picture, he was VERY excited about his history book he checked out.  The day after he checked out the book (we had only read the book once), he told me all about George Washington and Johnny Appleseed.
Then when we were going out of town this weekend and passed the statues of the historical figures near downtown on I10, Dane recognized and told us which one was George Washington.  Crazy I tell ya! :)
His teacher told us tonight at his parent/teacher conference that Dane always tries to pick books at the library that aren't on the kindergarten level that they set aside the kids can choose from.  He wants thicker books that are above his reading level, and that she has a hard time convincing him to pick out a book on the kindergarten shelves. Not a bad problem to have she said! He has recently REALLY taken a liking to books, reading, writing and drawing.

Purple Day!
Dane was a little annoyed that there was a PURPLE day.  Not a fan of purple.  He came home earlier in the week and said "I know that this week is purple week and I am NOT wearing purple, it's not my favorite color".  So, I had to tell him that it wasn't about his favorite color that it was the color of the week, and that he had a REALLY cool shirt that he loved that had guitars on it, and the shirt had a tiny amount of purple on it.  It worked, but he was not a happy camper.  HAHAHA It's hard to see in the picture, but his shirt in the background of the guitars and letters has purple in it... the best we could do.

We had a great weekend hanging out in Orange with my family.  We drove in Friday night after Dane got home from school, and spent the night eating some yummy chili and having a relaxing night watching tv.  Saturday we made the rounds seeing everyone, watching football and then going to the Lions Club carnival for a couple hours before heading back to the house to watch the Aggies play.  The carnival is something I grew up going to, so it was fun bringing my boys and showing them a piece of my past.  It's nothing fancy but all the money raised is used for different charities in Orange.  It's for a great cause, the food is super yummy and it's super duper cheap to get in and ride and play everything. We had a good time, and ran into several people I knew.  Dane was just the right size to ride all the "bigger rides" this year.  He rode everything, played all the games, and we had the famous burgers and funnel cake.  The only disappointment was that he didn't win a gold fish.  I remember it being easier when I was kid!! I can't even tell you how many fish I went home with over the years, and then be so disappointed that they would die after maybe 3-4 days.  It's all part of the Lions club experience!!  We attempted 3 rounds but he we could not get that ping pong ball in the stupid fish bowl to save our lives.  He was sad, but we told him we would just get him a fish from Walmart.  Ha! But, he hasn't asked about it since we left the parking lot so I think we are in the clear.
Anyway, it was a fun night.

Sunday we met up with everyone and had a little family social.  We hung out with my grandpa and a couple of his relatives that were in from out of town and then went and had lunch together.  We had such a great time, and Dane LOVED getting to play with his baby cousins.  I was so sad to leave.  :(
I wish I had had my good camera with me when we hung out with Hadley and Baylor and I would have gotten some really good shots of them.  These cell phone pics just don't do it justice to how stinking cute they are together.  So stinking cute! Dane loves being their big cousin!!

Today we had Dane's fall parent/teacher conference.  It went great! Dane's teacher said his behavior has been 100% better the last 3 weeks and that she thinks he is now adjusted and doing great.  She had nothing but positive things to say about how he is doing in school.  Academically, he is doing absolutely great. He has exceeded all the district's requirements and assessments for the first 7 weeks of school.  Very happy to hear all the positive things his teacher told us!
Dane played on the school computer while we had our conference.

Is it sad that its only Monday and I'm already wishing it was the weekend?!?!
