24th Day of Christmas AKA Christmas Eve
Christmas Eve Church service, cookies for Santa, reindeer food
The excitement was at an all time high by the time Christmas Eve rolled around. Dane was so excited for Christmas. My niece Lauren came back to Cypress with us and spent Christmas Eve and Day and a few more days with us. We really enjoyed having her here this year.
We started off the day with Dane finding Dopey. Dopey left him a letter and a box of candy cane cookies to make for Santa, and also a little surprise gift card to get popcorn at the movies. Dane had been begging to see the new Star Wars Movie, but we were so busy leading up till Christmas that he knew he had to wait till after the holiday, so Dopey wanted to make sure he could get popcorn when he went. We spent a little time making cookies to leave out for Santa, and then I realized that I had forgot to buy the ingredients to make reindeer food. Have no fear the reindeers that stop by here are not picky eaters. We threw together some wheat thins, cheerios, cinnamon toast crunch and red sprinkles and Dane sprinkled it all over our yard. We watched Christmas movies all day until it was time to get ready for our church's Christmas Eve service. Once we were back home we had dinner and Dane begged to open up one gift. We enjoyed the evening, and then as soon as it got pretty dark Dane wanted us to all go to bed so Santa could come. He didn't want to waste any time, he was so pumped.
Santa and his helpers were up quite a bit longer than he had anticipated on Christmas Eve. Jace's Santa gift was not easy to put together even though half of it had already been built. Santa had a really hard time getting the final pieces together, so tensions were high and stress levels might have been through the roof. Tis the season. :)
But, all was well and we were all tucked into our beds and had only been in a deep sleep for maybe a couple hours when we were awaken by high pitch screaming and excitement at.... drum roll please
3:15. Yes you read that right. Absolutely not. So, I sent Dane back to bed and told him that even though Santa had in fact arrived it was 3:15 in the morning, and Christmas although we start early wasn't starting that early. No big deal... we are all back asleep when the same thing happens again at 3:45. Insane. I had to convince him that even though Santa had finished at our house he was still in our neighborhood and Christmas couldn't start until he was back in his sleigh flying to another part of the city. So back to bed he went. Then I couldn't go back to sleep because I felt terrible that I had sent Dane back to bed on Christmas morning twice, and squished his excitement. But, all was good in the hood when Christmas was able to finally begin at... 6:00! HA!
