Spring Break

We were definitely ready for spring break to come around.  We all needed a little break from the school routine.  We tried to pack in some fun... we did have a few things that didn't go as planned but all in all we had a great week spending time together.

The kids still had credits on their Bounce Bounce gift cards that they were gifted at Christmas, so we started the week there.  It's such a fun trampoline place, the kids love going there and it burns a ton of energy!!

We made another trip over to the Houston Zoo.  My mom has gifted us with zoo membership the last couple years which is awesome to have free fun throughout the year.  It was insanely packed though.  Like crazy packed and of course Jace would not ride in the wagon most of the time, so I was terrified that I was going to lose him in the crowds.  My heart was beating super hard the entire time so it was hard to enjoy the day.  We packed lunches and found a shady spot to sit for a few minutes. We spent some time in the children's section and I had Dane trying to follow him around on the playground.  It was a super stressful visit, but the kids enjoyed spending a couple hours there.  We made a mental note that we won't be back during spring break ever again.

I can't remember exactly the order that we did all the spring break fun because my pics are all jumbled on my computer... and the fact that it is August but I'm just writing these March posts.  HAHA!
Anyway, we made a quick visit to Orange to spend a night.  Dane did "chores" for money, we hung out and relaxed with my mom and David and had Mexican food and Jace was obsessed with Sadie and feeding her.  And Jace sported his Christmas pjs because why not.

On our way home back to Cypress we decided to take the long route and go through Galveston to spend the day.  When we left Orange it was a tiny bit chilly.  Nothing crazy at all.  We even looked at the weather in Galveston and it wasn't anything to be alarmed about.  We had on hoodies and were totally fine, or so we thought.  We thought absolutely wrong.   We arrived and found parking and the wind was so strong that we could barely open up our car doors.  The temperature was in the low 60's, but when we arrived the wind chill was in the low 30's.  I'm not exaggerating.  It was like a wind storm and it was freezing. We were not dressed appropriately whatsoever.  Dane was in very thin athletic pants with a tshirt and hoodie.  Jace and both Kevin and I were in jeans but with very thin hoodies.  We walked for about 3 minutes and decided it was just too miserable.  No way we could spend the day here.  We didn't want it to be a total waste of a day since we had driven there, so we started looking up things to do in Galveston.  Kevin came across this railroad museum, not something we would typically do while in Galveston but decided it would be something to pass the time so the trip wouldn't be a total waste.  The museum was outside, but with how all the trains were it seemed to block the wind so it wasn't too terrible there.  Jace of course loved running and climbing into all the old train cars.  Dane liked it for a little bit and then got bored. We had fun making Dane take pics with all the statues.  We grabbed a quick meal and then hit the road back to Cypress.  Definitely not what we had planned when going to Galveston during spring break!

Jace found a train table and of course all bets were lost... that's all he wanted to do.  He loves train tables!

Such a teenager trapped in a 3rd grade body!

We needed a Lupe Tortillas Fix so we included that in our week of fun.  Mexican food and a playground while you eat...can't ask for much more.  HA!

There is a park in Katy that we had heard is suppose to be a super fun park, and a free putt putt course attached.  So, we decided to check it out.  The park was great, both kids had fun running around, but the putt putt course definitely needed some TLC.  But, it's free to use so we couldn't complain.  Jace was a toot and wouldn't leave the golf balls alone.  Anytime you would putt he would take off running to grab the balls and then throw them, kick, hide etc.  Luckily Dane was in a great mood and didn't care too much that Jace kept taking his golf balls.  Fun family day despite it not going as well we had hoped.  It was also St. Patrick's Day so we did wear green... We didn't do anything crazy to celebrate the holiday.

More park fun at the park near our neighborhood.  Jace was in hog heaven because of a cute dog that was there. And snow cones to end the week.
