Fredericksburg

Last little bit of June was spent in Fredericksburg with my girlfriends Christy and Dallas.  Nothing refreshes your soul quite like time away with friends.  This was my first time visiting Fredericksburg and I hope to go back soon.  I loved the town and how quaint it was.  We spent our time relaxing by the pool, walking around the strip, doing some wine tasting and just hanging out which involved lots of laughing. Such a fun getaway, wish we could do little trips more often!

And that sums up June!! Whew!! A full month!!

And this picture sums up Jace...always in crazy mode

While Dane was away

After we dropped off Dane at camp I took Jace to We Rock the Spectrum for a couple hours so Kevin could work on the next project of the summer... our office.  Out with the red and in with a grayish color.  It's been red for a long long time and I just grew sick of it.  Like the rest of the house I'm wanting it to all change.  So slowly but surely we are painting and changing out decor etc.
Jace had a great time pretending in the play kitchen, jumping on the trampoline, riding the zip line and climbing all over the equipment.  It's a neat little gym, super small so there is no worries of losing your crazy toddler.

Painting over red is no easy job.  It took two coats of primer and two coats of paint.
Jace was in a summer mdo for a couple weeks during the first part of the summer.  So, we took advantage of having no kids for 5 hours one day while he was there and Dane was at camp and went on a little day date.  We did some shopping to find some decor for our blank kitchen wall finally, and then tried out a new restaurant called The Cheese Bar at the Boardwalk in Townlake.  All of their dishes are made with fancy cheeses, and they also sell cheese trays and things like that.  The food was super yummy, and we loved the atmosphere.  It was good to have a moment to ourselves.  This was actually the day after I stayed up all night worrying about Dane at camp.  Kevin knew I needed to get out and do something to distract my worrying heart.

We spent some time at the pool letting Jace burn some energy as well each day.

And Jace is still doing swimming lessons once a week at Houston Swim Club.  He has gotten pretty comfortable in the water...so comfortable that he has jumped out into the water on several occasions when it wasn't his turn and even has had to sit in time out a couple times during his lessons.  Ha. His swim coach is great though, very loving but serious and doesn't let him get away with doing that. Keeping me on my toes for sure these days.

Keeping clothes on him is no easy thing either.  HaHa
He had just stolen my sonic drink and didn't think I noticed it.

And just some everyday pics of the little man... his blanket is still a favorite.  Playing with his choo choo tracks is an everyday thing, and bath time is always the best part of the day.

Once Kevin finished painting the office he started working on building barn doors for our office. I'll post a picture of the finished project soon.   Projects are keeping him busy this summer, but he loves having things to do.

Next Level Camp

The day after Father's Day we sent Dane off to Next Level Camp with our church.  He had been looking forward to going for a couple years now, it's only for kids going into the 4th and 5th grade so every year when our church is advertising it he wants to go. It's a high energy super fun camp that all the kids have a blast at.  We dropped him off and little man was not happy that he wasn't allowed on the bus, and after the bus pulled away Jace cried that he wanted his "Bro" as he calls him to come back.  Poor little guy missed his brother a ton! I spent the week worrying into an emotional frenzy.  The first evening our church posted pictures of the groups and Dane wasn't in the cabin that he was suppose to be in that had his friends in it.  I don't know what happened, but he ended up in a cabin with kids that he didn't know.  So, I'm not going to lie I lost a lot of sleep that first night worrying that he was disappointed and devastated that he wasn't with friends.  I had no way to know how he was doing during the week and he managed to avoid the camera when the counselors took pictures to post for the parents.
But, my worrying was all for nothing.  Dane got off that bus at the end of the week so happy.  He had the best time!! He told me that he got to see all his friends at all the activities and hang out with them, so it was no big deal.  And best part... he was awarded by his counselors the friendship award because of his ability to make friends with everyone he meets.  He went in with no friends in his cabin and came out with a whole cabin full of new friends.  The ironic part of it is that before he left we had a long talk about how I wanted him to be the kid in the cabin who included everyone, and even though he had his little group of buddies that if he sees someone without a friend to make sure to include them in his circle.  Long talk about being a good friend to those who had no friends, and he ended up being the kid who didn't have friends.  Funny how things work out like that.  So, we were extra proud of him that he was awarded the friendship award and wasn't scared to make friends and to be a good friend.  Dane is super chatty and can be a lot to handle sometimes, but one huge positive of his personality is that he is outgoing and not afraid to try new things, and is always ready to have a good time with whoever he is with.
He had an absolute blast at camp, didn't have a single complaint.  He is already talking about getting to go back next year.  We celebrated his homecoming with a trip to Sub Zero which is ice cream made with liquid nitrogen.  We were so happy to have him back home.  The house is just too quiet without him.
